I love travelling, both with a suitcase in hand, or just in my head. But my base has always been in Frankfurt.

As a linguist who focuses on proof-reading and translation, I’m curious about the people behind the text, about the writers and speakers – and also about slips of the pen or of the tongue.

My university course of Romance studies, Science of Theatre, Film and Television and Political Science gave me the opportunity of making a detour via Aix-en-Provence. And then, whilst still at university, I was involved in a type of “apprenticeship” as translator for English and French in a large industrial association. In those days, we still pored over printed dictionaries! Research without the Internet, using real scientific journals ... and the texts were typed on typewriters. And the typos? Correction band, or just start back at the beginning again.

After university and this apprenticeship, I made contact with the world of book translation. Transfair was founded during this period, another happy coincidence, and in the meantime, I also work as a proof-reader and final editor for books and magazines.

Texts that are well written are simply better and our all efforts are dedicated to this end. And to our clients.

Ute Marth

After graduating as a translator for French and Arabic with the subsidiary subject of Economics, my career options led me to Frankfurt in 1991. In consideration of the job market, I decided to go down the route of becoming a P.A. and worked for some years in the trading room and later in the portfolio management section of two big international banks.

But because I still wanted to work as a translator and have an exchange with other translators, I advertised in the Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper. The translation bureau Transfair Marth und Partner was thus founded in 1994.

Although France and the French language are closer to my heart, because of the subject matter of my linguistic experiences in trading and asset management, I tend to translate more from English texts concerning economics, assets and exchanges. In addition I proof read translations and am responsible for the processing of jobs.

I have worked exclusively as a freelance translator for more than ten years.
